About Joseph

Originating from Sri Lanka, Joseph is the diva of the indoor plant world: you simply cannot ignore him. As his diva tag suggests, Joseph can be a bit of a handful to look after. However if you treat him right, he'll be as happy as Larry and you'll find his leaves a sight to behold. His colours range from reds, to yellows, to greens - hence the nickname 'Joseph's Coat' - and his leaves have a lovely waxy feel to them.

Estimated height: 40-50cm.

Joseph will start out at around 40cm in height, and if you treat him fondly, he'll grow up to 150cm tall! But, rest assured, he won't get very far in his current pot.

Joseph likes bright light to keep him healthy. Too much direct light will cause his petals to scorch, and too little will cause his leaf markings to fade. He likes to keep you on your toes!

Joseph hates the cold, so make sure to keep him in the warmer parts of your home and away from draughts.

Watering and feeding

Joseph needs regular watering during the warmer months of the year, so you should keep his soil moist, but not wet. During the winter months, you can reduce watering to keep his soil just moist.

Living with pets and children

Joseph's leaves are toxic to eat so make sure to keep out of reach from any excitable pets and children.
